Only 45 minutes, by car, from the South-Eastern corner of the capital, you'll find Gardening World Limited. We're a garden centre in Kent, with all the plants you could need to make your personal green space the perfect place to spend your time. That might seem like a bit of a drive to pick up some seeds and soil but, fortunately, there's more to the area than just us – why not make a day of the trip? There's so much to do nearby that'll keep the family entertained, while also giving you a great excuse to get down to Gardening World and stock up on the outdoor essentials! Here are some ideas of what else you can get up to whilst you're down in Kent.

Whitstable Town – 35 mins

Whitstable is a charming coastal town in the southeast of England, known for its quaint streets, stunning views and, of course, oysters! They might be an acquired taste but the town itself has so much more to offer. Whether it's independent cafes serving up local and international delicacies, vintage shops, or a thriving arts scene, complete with theatres, music venues and festivals, there's something for everyone to get stuck into!

Elmley National Nature Reserve – 20 mins

Just across the river Swale, on the Isle of Sheppey, you'll find Elmley National Nature Reserve, a stunning 3,300-acre nature reserve, replete with stunning wildlife, beautiful scenery and hidden holiday stays – for if a day there isn't quite enough! On the various walking and cycling trails, you'll come across rare birds such as marsh harriers, lapwings, and avocets, mammals such as hares and water voles, lush, green meadows and an overwhelming sense of peace. The perfect escape from the busy city life is just 20 minutes from our centre!

Canterbury Town – 40 mins

Canterbury is a historic city, famous for its stunning architecture, charming streets, and rich cultural heritage. The city dates back to the Roman era and is best known for its medieval cathedral, the first bricks of which were laid over 1,400 years ago. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site today. Canterbury also has a number of other historic sites, including St Augustine's Abbey and the ruins of St Martin's Church. The city is a cultural hub, hosting a number of festivals throughout the year, including the famed Canterbury Festival, which celebrates music, theater, and literature. If that isn't enough for you, Canterbury is a shopper's paradise, with a mix of high street stores and independent boutiques, as well as having a fantastic food and drink scene, with a range of independent cafes, restaurants, and pubs – plenty to do on a day-trip!

Leeds Castle – 25 mins

Don't let the name fool you – there's no need to head up North. Just a stone's throw away from Sittingbourne, you'll find Leeds Castle, packed with rich history, stunning gardens and family-friendly activities throughout the year. Leeds Castle has 500 acres of beautiful gardens, including a formal maze, a Mediterranean garden, and a woodland walk. There's a playground, a miniature golf course, and a falconry display, as well as regular events and workshops in the grounds. The castle itself is a stunning example of medieval architecture, with a range of styles including Norman, Tudor, and Gothic.
